| 463977 | 2006-07-03 09:16:00 | My friend said it good and their plan is better. Fair enough. :) I used to use Actrix for dialup and found them good but I haven't used them for ADSL. |

| 463978 | 2006-07-03 09:17:00 | I'm using Actrix, 700mb/day ~21gb/mth. 2Mbps/128kbps, and $55 per month (old pricing for old customers)... Their service is very good, responded promptly to any problems I had. Speeds are good off peak too, reaching the full 2Mbps.. But during peak times, it does slow down, to about 600-1100kbps, maybe server capacity? But well, I'm in it for the daily caps, quite a nice system rather than running downloads full blast and then being restricted for half a month to slow dial up! |

Can I ask you one question? Do we have a free modem and free connection when we apply it? And If I am using Telecom and I want to change to Actrix, do I need to pay any money to cancel Telecom and change to Actrix? Thanks. |

Yep their pricing looks good but for the extra $10 you have to pay if you don't use their toll service. I'm staying with Orcon at present until the LLU gets sorted and we see who is offering what.. |

| 463981 | 2006-07-04 03:35:00 | At home:- Slingshot dialup at home and went to 3gb plan with free modem, connection, 3 months free etc. Setup went without a hitch, although took about a week to 10 days. Helpline service is great, email notification when 75% bandwidth used, extra capacity is quite cheap...blah blah blah very happy really. Oh yeah, connection fell over a few times but seems to be stable now. Could have been the exchange as we had a service outage with the landline. Took telecom 10 days to fix a faulty fuse? in the exchange. They diverted all landline calls to my mobile but as my tolls go through slingshot, slingshot charged me $35.00 for the calls to mobile. I am still trying to recover the $35.00 from telecom. At work:- Orcon dialup and looking to go to broadband. Orcon wants $250.00 setup as we have 7 extensions off a PABX - reducing to $149.99 for a 12 month contract. Still have to pay for modem as well and filters. Dialup service has been good and stable and helpdesk great on the two occassions they were needed. Haven't made a choice on provider yet for broadband - still reviewing offers. Good luck |

| 463982 | 2006-07-07 00:36:00 | I was formally with Slingshot and am now with Orcon. Slingshot I would avoid like the plague. I signed up with their BB plan for 1 year but became so disallusioned with their service within 6 months that I was willing to pay the penalty early disconnection fee to be rid of them. Their customer service is amature, assuming you can get through at all inside of an hour. I am not an expert, but I am a genius compared to some of the so called "help" their CSR's were trying to give me. All they did was run off a list (the same list every time) and then they actually gave up on the problem and said ring back tomorrow if I haven't fixed it by then! Then there is their billing system. Most of the invoices I recieved were wrong. They kept billing me even after I had been moved to Orcon by telecom's tech's. It took 5 months after my last slingshot download before they finally stopped billing me, and then they had the audacity to tell me it was my fault for not giving them written notice, despite having talked personally to their accounts and service people on 3 seperate occasions asking for it to be resolved and being advised by both telecom and orcon that written notice was not required. Orcon is much better. I have the 3.5Mbit plan, and although I have some concerns over their stability, they are a relief after Slingshot. Their billing, while not the simplest of formats, is at least consistant and apparently accurate. They do however have some problems with providing the speeds they claim (yes I know its variable and not always their fault) but there has yet to be a full month go by where I don't lose connection for a number of hours or get very slow speeds (pages on multiple sites timing out while trying to connect). Again, their CSR tech's could use some real training rather than simply read through a list of things to try, but unlike slingshot at least they persevered until my problem was resolved. Slingshot ran out of things on their list and basically gave up and left me to it. Over all, Orcon isn't perfect, but passable. Slingshot may suit some people, but my experience with them means I'll never go back, and I'll warn as many people off them as I can. |
