464190 2006-06-18 13:17:00 Well I finally got it in and working, allbeit very clunky and slow. I have it sitting in a spare portable drive I have plugged in through my USB. I there any way I can adjust my BIOS or Windows Startup so I can choose whether to use Vista or my normal operating system XP? ironman (6770)
464191 2006-06-18 22:33:00 I once had Windows installed on two separate hard drives in the same computer. Upon starting the computer I went into the BIOS and enabled the drive I wished to use and disabled the drive not required so both drives were never enabled at the same time.

Not sure if you can do that with a portable USB hard drive so you will either have to wait for someone else to advise or you could just try it and see.

464192 2006-06-19 02:37:00 Hey thanks for that. I am not sure where to look in my bios. I shows me the start up order but it doesn't seem to specify which hard drive. Any ideas? ironman (6770)
464193 2006-06-19 03:53:00 No, you don't get to choose which hard drive to boot up with. You disable one so the other one is no longer available.

It was ages ago that I did it and I have forgotten the details so I can't be more specific than that, sorry.

Me, I just created 2 Primary partitions and one extended that is partitioned into several others. The first primary has Windows XP on it and the 2nd has Vista on it.

To make one boot over the other I just hide the partition I dont want it to boot from using PQBoot and then it will boot into the one that is visible.

Could make it so that I have a boot menu as well but this way they are completely seperate from one another and then easy to remove later with a simple format.
