| 464020 | 2006-06-18 02:22:00 | I was assembling a PC for my grandson and for some stupid reason set the screen mode to AGP rather than pc slot on bootup. Of course now I can't see the screen/bios etc. to set up the PC. How do I fix this? | bigal (4956) | ||

| 464022 | 2006-06-18 03:04:00 | Welcome to PressF1. There might be a jumper on the motherboard marked "reset BIOS" or something similar. Otherwise, remove the small lithium cell (which maintains the BIOS memory contents) for a while. |

Otherwise, remove the small lithium cell (which maintains the BIOS memory contents) for a while. THANKS left the lithium battery out overnight and that fixed problem. HOWEVER I inadvertently moved a couplpe of jumpers on the motherboard so all probs not yet fixed. It's an SIS530 m/board and will try and get info on web. Got it booting to windows(2k) but get BSOD immediatley - something about 'ntokernel exe' or similiar. But thanx anyway for the help. |

If the disk has been "wiped", it could still have working boot sector code, which will say that it's loading W2K. But there isn't a W2K. :( A missing kernel indicates that might be what's happening. | Graham L (2) | ||

(The download makes a bootable floppy disk (there's also an .iso image for producing a bootable CD) which runs the programme). Perhaps one of the jumpers you moved has set the wrong CPU speed? |
