464937 2006-06-21 07:22:00 There's a lot to choose from. LG, Samsung, ASUS, HP with lightscribe etc.

Depends what u want. A burner that burns to anything including DVD-ram, a burner that supports lightscribe, which wld be a bit dearer. A burner that supports dual layer.

Most burners these days range from $75-$95/100.

464938 2006-06-21 07:51:00 I too am looking for a decent DVD writer. Basically I want to burn footage from my camcoder to pc to dvd, also I like making music dvds that I have collected.

Any brands more suited to that kinda of burning?

464939 2006-06-21 07:54:00 Any DVD burner will do that.

Might be better, getting a dual layer burner.

464940 2006-06-21 09:15:00 Fairly basic, too replace my cd-rw so that i can read the occasional dvd diskette which comes my way and burn the (very occasional) dvd.
I was considering one of the lite-on modles with dual layer ?

464941 2006-06-21 09:26:00 Liteon (the latest model also supports lightscribe) Myth (110)
464942 2006-06-21 09:40:00 Asus - 1608P. Can be flashed with a Pioneer firmware and supports bitsetting to DVD-Rom with DVD+R blanks allowing for better compatibility with set top DVD players.

Excellent burner.

464945 2006-06-22 01:08:00 I'd also recommend NEC burners. High quality burn on decent media and firmware easily upgradable if you need region free movie watching :) autechre (266)
