464748 2006-06-20 06:53:00 hello
i have been using nero6 ultra edition for the past year or so...the last time i used it was last week. now however it wont work. it started out by opening but i could only use imaging recorders. so i uninstalled it thru add/remove programs then used nero clean. reinstalled it and it tells me now...

The WIN-ASPI File '?.?' can't be found therefore you can currently select only image recorders. Missing file is part of WINDOWS 95/98/ME ERROR 11: NO ASPI!
i did a pc search for the file and it was there in Nero but nero couldnt find it

i went to nero site and downloaded the files..and followed their installation guide but its still the same ..i have uninstalled and reinstalled it so many times now it is past a joke.

why do i need these files if it is part of windows 95/98/ME ??? i am using XP.
anyone have any ideas on how to fix this please?

464749 2006-06-20 10:31:00 Are you using the latest version of Nero??

And whats the brand / model of the burner?? Is it a recent burner?

Uninstall Nero again, delete its folder in Program files .

Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ahead in the registry .

Delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ahead in the registry .

Delete C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ahead

Delete C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data\Ahead

Get ccleaner (http://www . ccleaner . com)

Run this . Click on issues . Then scan for issues . And remove everything that comes up .

Then reinstall Nero .

If it still doesnt work, get the ASPI drivers ( . adaptec . com/en-US/speed/software_pc/aspi/aspi_v471_exe . htm" target="_blank">www . adaptec . com)

Then see what happens . But you're right . XP doesnt usually need the ASPI drivers, if u use Nero .

464750 2006-06-20 10:31:00 XP uses:

wnaspi32.dll, aspi32.sys

I think your problem is with Windows, not Nero.

464751 2006-06-20 10:38:00 Neither one of those files are on here .

Only wnaspi32 . dll, which is in the nero and nerovision folder .

Nowhere else . And Nero works fine here .

Without aspi32 . sys .

464752 2006-06-21 23:34:00 thanx guys for ur suggestions.... think u were right about it being a windows issue.... after uninstalling and reinstalling countless times and doing whatever i did .. i ended up messing my pc up big time... so decided format was easiest way to go....and coz i was impatient and had no replies to my post after a day or so
did that ...reinstalled nero and its going perfectly well...have saved ur replies tho so that if it happens in future i will know what to do :)
