464860 2006-06-20 23:01:00 Hi

I am having a problem burning CD files using the XP setup. When I try to burn a file to a CD using the right-click drop-down menu and the CD Writing Wizard, I get an error message indicating that there was an error in the writing process and that the disk may no longer be usable. I get the same message for other disks.

I uninstalled the CD drive drivers (generic and ASUS) and rebooted, with everything re-installing OK. Still the same problem.

However, I have no problems burning to CD using Nero.

Any suggestions?

Cheers Gary

464862 2006-06-20 23:25:00 Hi FoxyMX

Thanks for the suggestion. A logical conclusion, but I'm a lazy sod and would have liked to be able to burn the files direct rather than to save them to desktop (or other place) before starting up Nero and then going looking for them.

Cheers

GaryLazy sod or not, Nero has a lot more features and would be the logical choice based on that alone :p

I use Nero for a lot of jobs but a simple burn when backing up a file from a running application, is easier using the XP facility.

464865 2006-06-20 23:53:00 do you have'incd' installed (nero) for use with with re-writables ? cause that can cause conflicts with windoze burning sysem as far as I recall...... drcspy (146)
464866 2006-06-21 00:07:00 Hi drcspy

I don't appear to have 'incd' installed as it doesn't show up on the 'applications' list when i run Nero.

Cheers

464867 2006-06-21 00:26:00 Just an aside a little from your problem, if you use 2 different CD burning programs to write files to a CD, you can run into problems, I have found it better to use 1, I use Nero, as some of them don't play well together & you can/will lose files.

Just my 2c, opps no good anymore has to be 10c, worth...... :D

The XP bit comes with Windows XP and has worked OK in the past, even with Nero installed.

Thanks
