| 465454 | 2006-06-23 08:40:00 | Hey guys, I bought a 19 inch monitor of trademe for $30, the brightness is a little off (apparently there is some buildup of Phospherous or something which can possibly be fixed) but it looks pretty good. A bit of an upgrade for the 14 :D Anyways, there's a blurry area in the middle, I hear this is easy to fix, take the top off and turn a knob or something, also that this is very dangerous because you cant touch anything. I'll be careful. The screen is an IBM G96 19'' monitor, are there any online pictorials? Is this pretty much it? Anything I should know about, or could there be some other cause for the blurr? | 465459 | 2006-06-23 12:30:00 | How long she got left in her you rekon? :D The lines are pretty faint, they only show up on grey backgrounds really. The blurryness has subsided a bit - I think the monitor hadnt been used in a while. |

| 465460 | 2006-06-23 14:32:00 | Try degaussing it . It'll be an option in the menu . This sometimes helps screens that have partial blurriness or strange artifacts . Failing that, if you're lucky there might be a focus adjustment pinhole in the back of the monitor . It should be well-labelled, don't go twiddling a screw if you don't know what it will do . You should use a plastic screwdriver and practise getting it into the screw with the monitor off . Note that the monitor being off does not mean safety . However with an insulated screwdriver you should be OK . If you feel up to it, have someone else watch the monitor while you turn this screw, so you can get it right quite easily . If you don't like the idea of poking things into your screen while it's on, you can do it with the screen off fine, it will just take a lot longer, as you will have to test it every time you adjust it . The dial is VERY sensitive, so it may be a good idea to remember which way it pointed if you seem to screw it up, or even worse, if it's not actually the focus adjustment . |

| 465461 | 2006-06-24 10:19:00 | Sweet :D I busted the back off, and mucked around with the screw, it was kinda scary :lol: , this monitor had a realy huge shield thing that made it look rather daunting . Allow the monitor to warm up for 15-20 minutes then carefully and slowly adjust the focus a little each side of the existing setting . (Should the shaft not want to turn, it may be secured in position by glue or paint . Gripping the shaft with long-nose pliers and gently exerting rotating force will usually crack the seal and Bob's your Uncle!)" :blush: Better late than never is not a good idea for this warning note . |
