| 466403 | 2006-06-26 11:39:00 | what is the best hard drive (dollarwise)?? .... i have an intel 945GPM motherboard which supports both. I want performance and good recovery times. Without spending mega bucks on what i would consider a small raptor hard drive. Dont want hard drive using a load of power, need it cool and quiet. Thinking about upgrading to Vista next year, had the beta 2 32bit Ultimate version running on my new system below spec and seemed sooo slow (it gave a 3 out of 10 performance reading from control panel Performance app): Pentium D #930 (3.0GHz) Intel 945GPM (media VIIV board) 1GB DDR-667 RAM (2 x 512MB running in dual mode) 80GB Seagate SATA150 GeForce 7900gt pci-express vid card (yea, i play games some times) 420W Power Supply. No doubt will double RAM next year when i need it. I also want VIIV installed and running, it wont install at this stage. Any comments? Cheers |

| 466412 | 2006-06-28 07:43:00 | Wow, 3 out of 10, LOL on a dual core cpu, even if it is a P4 chip. That doesnt seem right! Increasing the RAM to 2gb would have a better effect on the system than a new drive. |
