2006-06-26 03:22:00 | Hi there guys and girls. I have a bi of an issue. I have been working on a home business network with both computers accessing the internet through the DSL router. What happened was I removed all application from the start up menu via msconfig and in the startup TAB. I also created another My Documents folder for the network to access. I rebooted the computer and all hell has broken lose. When the computer re-booted there was no info in the Device manager folder. The printer drivers and gone from the Printer Driver menu and there was no info under device manager. No internet on one computer and computers are not networked any more. I have tryed the Ms network wizard but to no avail. I have gone through the MS help trouble shooting website turned what I think is all the services back on but still nothing. I cant even ping the modem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. HELP!!!

2006-06-26 04:18:00 | What OS are you using I can't help you, but is there not somewhere you can select "last known good configuration" or something similar, or if worst comes to worst - system restore points etc

2006-06-26 05:12:00 | The "Last known good configuration" option is in Windows XP's (2000?) startup menu. Reboot the computer (or turn it on) and press F8 until a menu appears. Use the arrow keys to select it. | pcuser42 (130) | |

2006-06-26 06:49:00 | The "Last known good configuration" option is in Windows XP's (2000?) startup menu. Reboot the computer (or turn it on) and press F8 until a menu appears. Use the arrow keys to select it. The Last Known Good option will probably not work if he has since booted up to his windows desktop and seen that things are missing. Last Known good is rewritten every time the OS successfully boots to a start menu type level. However, if you removed startup items by using msconfig you may still be able to put them back on using msconfig still. If you run msconfig and uncheck items in the startup section those items usually remain there and just need to be checked again. That would be the first thing to try at least. Other than that I will need more details as to what items you actually removed from startup and anything else you did.

2006-06-26 08:22:00 | Well it would appear that I am a moron. I have figured it out. While trying to remove items from the startup menu I managed to remove some of the services from the TAB next door. lol Oh well we all live and learn. Thank you for those that made an honest attempt at helping me out and to those that didnt, well what can I say. Karma is a ***** on a mistress.
