| 1393916 | 2015-02-10 01:04:00 | Its NOT another porkey. They were had by skycity, thats all. But really John, an eyesore??. Has JK never been to that area. Apart from the tower, that whole area is one eyesore, one of the uglier parts of Ak. Cant see how putting up a new blding could make it worse, its not like the new convention center is going to be a corrugated iron lean-to. Lets drop the whole thing, since skycity dont see to able able to keep to their side if the deal . Since there is a supposed shortage of builders, its not like Ak builders are desperate for the job. The whole premise is based on total BS. Being honest, if you were a US, Euro, Chinese delegate looking for a junket(convention) to go to...you could go to Paris, London, LA, Vegas. Why on earth would anyone fly 1/2 way around the world to go to a 1 day junket (opps I meant convention) in boring ol' AK. And the claims of the number who will be employed when finished looked bogus from day 1. |

| 1393917 | 2015-02-10 01:24:00 | "In a nutshell, the Government has an agreement with them [SkyCity]. It could make them meet that agreement but the escalation in prices to build the convention centre, which is bigger than was proposed and flasher than was proposed, means there is a hole. So, who changed the plans that were agreed to and why? Simply put, whoever changed the plans is responsible for the Variation Order and therefore the cost. |

LA quakes perhaps and poxy old Vegas. Don't think the frogs will bomb Auks again. Lurking. |

| 1393919 | 2015-02-10 02:26:00 | The arrangement looks very straight forward to me . Under the agreement, SkyCity would meet the full project costs of the convention centre - estimated at $402 million - in return for the following: * An extension of SkyCity's Auckland casino licence, due to expire in 2021, to June 30, 2048 and an amendment to cover all SkyCity's properties in Federal Street * An additional 230 pokie machines on the casino floor * An additional 40 gaming tables * A further 12 gaming tables that can be substituted for automated table game player stations (but not pokie machines) * Up to 17 per cent of pokie machines and automatic table games (in restricted areas only) being able to accept banknotes of denominations greater than $20 * Introducing TITO (ticket-in, ticket-out) and card-based cashless gaming technology on all pokie machines and automatic table games at Auckland casino . SkyCity will operate the convention centre for at least 35 years . The company made its own announcement to shareholders on the New Zealand Stock Exchange this morning . SkyCity is contributing the 14,000 square metres Auckland CBD site for the convention centre, which is bounded by Nelson, Hobson and Wellesley streets . The company said as well as the convention and exhibition space, there will be at least 780 carpark and a new linkway bridge over Hobson St . As part of the deal, SkyCity has agreed to increased measures to deter problem gambling and money laundering including: * A predictive modelling tool that analyses data to identify players at risk of problem gambling * A voluntary pre-commitment system where players can elect to restrict the amount of time they play or the amount they spend * Doubling the number of "Host Responsibility" specialists to deliver 24-hour, seven-days-a-week coverage . * Introduction of player identification requirements when amounts over $500 are being put onto, or cashed from, TITO tickets in non-restricted areas . | 1393920 | 2015-02-10 03:18:00 | Mr Joyce said there were no hidden deals with SkyCity. "Anything that is not written down is not happening." He also dismissed the Treasury's concerns. "We were able to prove Treasury was in the wrong on that one." www.nzherald.co.nz John Key Said "SkyCity has agreed to pay the full construction costs of the centre estimated at $350 million. www.johnkey.co.nz Now he is saying that may not be the case.... Is the man a fool,or a liar? either way it looks like the tax payer is going to have to pay :yuck: |

| 1393921 | 2015-02-10 04:33:00 | Unbelievable! The development started off costing $350m, then it blew out to $402m, a whopping extra $52m, and now it is going to cost somewhere between $470m & $530m. Thats a worst case scenario of a $180m blow-out on a $350m project before a spade has turned a sod over. In the meantime the Government has passed the legislation which was their part of the deal. The law was changed in late 2013, but in December last year, SkyCity managing director Nigel Morrison said cost over-runs and "design improvements" had seen the bill blow out to between $470 million and $530 million. If Key had any balls, he would tell this lot to smarten their act up and get things underway or he would change the law again and close the place down. Only problem being he probably has a substantial number of shares in the place, through one off his Blind Trusts of course so wont do that. Actually Id love a reporter to ask him if he had shares in the place to see if he could remember. :D |

" In addition all "Legal High" shops should be closed down, and a community education programme started nation wide to educate on how our "free and open system" can ruin your life . My social studies teacher Mr Campbell, opened my naive eyes, with his classes on advertising, way back in the 50's . I've been a bit cynical ever since . ( and a bit more than about advertising . ) ("All classes started with: "Prepare to receive these pearls of wisdom that I am about to impart, into the innermost recesses of your respective crania . ") While striding from the door to his desk . So not your average teacher! |
