1393720 2015-02-07 09:11:00 Not sure if I'll be the only one attempting this little search, but I've just got a lovely new fridge (hooray!) but am missing the use of the butter conditioner that used to be part of my old one. I have heard of people having separate conditioners that are temperature controlled, but haven't had much luck finding one in NZ...does anyone know of where I can buy one of these units? I have thought about switching to a semi-soft butter from the supermarket but my family are adamant that they want the real thing!

Thanks for your help :)

That spreadable butter is stupid expensive .

When our conditioner died we switched to cutting off some small block of butter into a little ceramic pot that stays in the pantry . Can't be too bad, it's better than a little heater in your fridge like a conditioner was .

I also had to buy a new fridge and lost the conditioner......

There are no conditioners anymore. There was a crowd (UK) doing a plug in conditioner but they seem to have gone now.

Some will tell you a butter bell will do it - it doesn't.
Helps keeping it from going rancid, but unless you stand around refilling with ice water (or warm water) all day, it doesn't really help with the temperature.

The softened stuff is done by special churning - so it is REAL butter....just avoid the ones with mixtures of butter/oil.

But, it's expensive.

We have resigned ourselves to super squishy summer butter now. I just put a small amount in the pantry...

No it's not.
The heater in my fridge was great, I happily enjoyed it for 30 odd years.

1393724 2015-02-07 19:54:00 We had the same problem a few years ago and found a Westinghouse fridge that had one. Not sure if they still have them.. paulw (1826)
1393725 2015-02-07 20:52:00 Just place the butter on a saucer in the microwave, and zap for 10 seconds on the lowest power setting available, to make it spreadable :) Zippity (58)
1393726 2015-02-07 22:34:00 My old F&P unit has the conditioner and it stops working 'at random' but it has been working 'FINE' for almost half a year now. :) bk T (215)
1393727 2015-02-07 23:00:00 I had the exact same problem! Butter too hard in winter and too soft in summer without the butter conditioner in my fridge . Microwave was a pain as sometimes I end up melting the whole block, and leaving it in the pantry is also inconsistent depending on the climate .

I ended up searching and found a company in the UK that made a stand alone butter conditioner, it was a bit of a mission getting one and freight was annoying from the UK . But totally worth it in the end . Search 'Alffille' in Google and you should find it, had it for a year or so now and love it, I love real butter as you can probably tell nom nom nom :P
