1393572 2015-02-04 06:49:00 Hi all, I'm after a new phone. $250-$500 price range, needs to work on 2degrees. Big screen, good outdoor screen visibility and long battery life are all pluses. Only really interested in android phones running 5.0. Will mainly be used for web browsing (desktop sites), watching videos and actual phone things (calls, txts etc). Likely to be using mobile data a fair bit too.

Thanks

1393574 2015-02-04 07:47:00 All phones will work on the 2 degrees network. Just a case of finding one you like. It sounds like you would be suited to a Samsung Galaxy S5..? Webdevguy (17166)
1393575 2015-02-04 08:09:00 Try Pricespy, you can drill down on Androids filter to specify 5.0 and on price. At the top end $500+ that gives you L3 G3 then Nexus 5 then Moto. Ofthesea (14129)
1393576 2015-02-04 08:29:00 Moto G, probably the 2013 4G edition. The 2014 edition has the same power, .5 of an inch larger screen, and a better camera, but with poorer battery life, and isn't 4G.

Both the 2013 4G and the 2014 are getting Lollipop.

Touchwiz and it's a bit out of my price range.

1393578 2015-02-05 03:08:00 Moto G is what you're after, hands down! Chilling_Silence (9)
1393579 2015-02-05 08:49:00 Yup, +1 to the Moto G - (2014 if you want the larger screen). Can't get any better value for money. sahilcc7 (15483)
1393580 2015-02-07 06:13:00 Looked at the Moto G, I'm a bit put off by the lack of an sd card slot and 1gb ram. Anything else worth considering? icow (15313)

The 2014 and 2013 4G editions of the Moto G both have SD card slots.

Also 1gb on a Moto is worth about 1.5gb ram on a Samsung, just because the Moto UI is so much lighter on the system than Touchwiz.
