1393828 2015-02-09 22:54:00 There is no tention between the parts when it is glued.

If there is no tension between the parts and/or they are not under stress, any cyanoacrylate (instant) glue would probably hold it safely, just make sure there is no lubricant on the two faces and that they fit closely together. Either that, or 5 minute Araldite and its a done deal.

Cheers

1393829 2015-02-10 02:08:00 Speaking as an antique, I can assure you that replacement parts are pretty tricky to find ;)
I have 3 antique clocks. My dad fixes clocks....the only thing he couldn't find once was a certain imperial measurement thing, not a screw but like one, um, it was a insert? Like a screw without a head sort of.......anyway had a little wander down to New Lynn and found 6 for him.
Not at the clock place there but at a model shop.....

Some parts he gets here, some from Germany.
Not as hard as you'd think....

No more nails says it all, replace nails, absolutely not No More Nails, ridiculous idea,, tosh to Bunnings I say.

1393831 2015-02-10 19:08:00 Hi everyone, someone recommended E6000 and I ordered it. Thanks PCTEK my dad fixes antique clocks also but lives in Europe, he is currently here for a holiday however has no tools etc to do his job! lol... thats why we were on a hunt to get glue to hold the parts together. its part of a bell that sits on top of the clock. mark1978 (13845)
1393832 2015-02-10 19:56:00 The bell will loose it's tone. Cicero (40)

hmmn, possibly not that good a choice. It doesnt dry hard , I have some at home. Its similar to Sellies Clear NoMoreNails . It is super sticky though .

Epoxy or CA . And you'll need to get ALL the old glue off first or it just wont stick

1393834 2015-02-10 22:33:00 Hi, we have a bit broken off our antique clock, its messing (metal) and we are wondering if there is glue available that will hold this? There is no tention between the parts when it is glued.

Any advice is welcome

PS someone recommended (Bunnings Warehouse) Liquid Nails however it is sort of rubbery when its dry and its not glueing properly...
Araldite very strong 2 part epoxy

1393836 2015-02-16 02:06:00 Hi everyone, the person that recommended that E6000 didn't work was right! Its hard to describe whats broken....we have the bell...which sits on top of the clock.. In the middle of the bell we have a hole which holds the part that broke off, it goes through the hole of the bell and sticks out of the bell and holds a little on the top.

I am looking at the locktite at present....the putty someone recommended.......yikes!!! the price!!

I am in Rotorua BTW...someone asked that as well....any help....much appreciated....
