1393110 2015-01-27 01:41:00 Over on geekzone someone tried a cheap samsung Blu-ray and it apparently works as long as it has the Samsung smart hub feature or something, Less than $150. Not as good as not needing to buy anything but not too pricey.
I'm after the apk to try on my Nexus if anyone feels like extracting it from a Samsung tablet.

1393111 2015-01-27 03:50:00 Lightbox is free for Spark BB customers because I suspect they are running scared, since they don't support Chromecast, AppleTV, non-Samsung Smart TVs, non-Samsung Android devices .

Netflix supports all of those, as well as the limited selection of devices supported by Lightbox .

I have had Lightbox since it started - awesome quality, selection pretty good - but watching on my laptop is tedious .

Perhaps if they hadn't tied themselves into Silverlight technology it would have been a simpler process to support more devices .

I have a perfectly serviceable Panasonic Plasma TV (two HDMI ports - one for Chromecast, the other for TiVo) and do not see a justification to spend $1000 to replace the TV . . .

I also have perfectly serviceable Android (Nexus) devices - I don't like Sammie, so even the best content in the world isn't going to make me replace with a Samsung tablet

Their argument is that Samsung devices/TVs are the most widely available and used in NZ (and I suspect they also saved money by getting Samsung to do the app development in return for an exclusive arrangement - much like the TV3 On-demand app), but for me, that still smacks of cutting off your nose to spite your face .

There are still a large number of now-alienated potential customers (many who will be tech-savvy), who will be looking for a product/service that DOES work on their devices . And once they've lost those customers it will be very hard to get them back!!!

So thanks for the free Ligntbox, but when Netflix launches, guess whose service I am going to subscribe to???

1393112 2015-01-27 03:51:00 It works with Chrome, so would Chromecast work ?

DRM . It plays in Chrome but as soon as you cast you get sound but no Picture on the TV set . . . .

1393115 2015-01-27 07:29:00 I signed up this afternoon and tried to load a video and it is still loading ...... it's already 10 mins. :(

Something is not quite right. I'm on Fibre 100 - it can't be my Internet speed.

1393116 2015-01-27 07:45:00 OK. I think it's something to do with my Win8.1 machine as it loads OK on my other Win7 computer.

What could be the problem?

1393117 2015-01-27 07:58:00 These media companies appear to be offering essentially similar media - TV shows - plenty of it. Perhaps they could offer (and differentiate themselves) DIY shows. Tutorials, i.e.Home stuff, automotive, PC's, crafts, etc. Like the Scribbs Network (www.scrippsnetworksinteractive.com) in the US. Say like YouTube tutorial channels. kahawai chaser (3545)
1393118 2015-01-27 08:19:00 Can someone shed some lights on as to how to get it working on my Win8.1 machine?

I have uninstalled Silverlight and reinstalled it, but still can't load the video. I've also disabled Adblock Plus.
It also won't work with IE, too.

Couldn't agree more - I have a 3 year old Samsung which has widgets, including a Netflix one for the USA but Samsung has abandoned NZ customers and not bringing out one for us. Also, nothing for XBMC users.
I have no intention of watching on a PC.
