1404922 2015-07-15 12:20:00 Performed speedtest (speedtest.net) on two different PCs both running Win8.1 x64. Both PCs are connected to the Router by Cat5e Ethernet cable (< 5 m in length) within a small room.

PC No. 1 achieved ~86 Mbps down whereas, PC No. 2 achieved only 46 Mbps down; upload speeds are about the same. All tests were using the same server.

Why is it so?

1404923 2015-07-15 22:02:00 run more tests & take an average
perhaps the 2 pc's were doing the speedtests to & from different overseas 'servers'

1404925 2015-07-15 23:53:00 By any chance is one of them also running through a switch ?

If I test here on the office PC its faster then the workshop or lounge. The workshop & lounge goes through a couple of switches which is where the "slowness" is.

Direct connection to the Router is 130 Mbps, where as Workshop /Lounge is 70 - 90 Mbps

1404926 2015-07-16 00:20:00 They are all connected directly to the Router.

Both PCs are freshly reinstalled Win8.1, fully updated.

1404927 2015-07-16 00:59:00 It's weird, not something downloading or updating in the background? You could try swapping ports to see if the speedtest changes.
Also do the test with only the one device running.

1404931 2015-07-16 02:18:00 At that kind of speed WiFi can affect the speed too. My tablet gets ~30 down on WiFi but jumps to the full 100 down if I use an Ethernet adapter. pcuser42 (130)
