1404262 2015-07-07 01:53:00 Ok guys and gals what we are looking at here is a Desktop running Win7 Home Premium 64bit Sp1- on a Gigabyte M685M-S2L Motherboard - running Realtek High definition Audio Drivers.

Now the problem is, I have lost all sound to the Green Audio Connection on the MB. (there is no card)

However, the Green Headset Jack on the front panel works fine.

Google has provided me with a years reading  on the subject so I thought someone here may know the trick to fix it.

This type of trick along with slight variants seems to be common place with Win7, so any thoughts? :thanks

1404263 2015-07-07 02:28:00 Some cases switch the rear sound off when the front jack is used and the switch can go faulty so it could be a hardware fault. On one of my old machines I solder bridged the front audio Jack switch to disable it when it happened to me.Try "jiggling" a connector in and out of the front port to see if any sound comes out the rear.

If it's a software issue though I'm a bit stumped, try a different coloured jack and tell it to be an output? Some realtek drivers allow the jacks to be reassigned and many auto sense when you plug something in and ask what it is.

1404264 2015-07-07 08:57:00 front audio is a seperate wired connection from the rear audio which is hard wired to the board.

For both to be faulty, be the audio chip, hardware drivers, for one to be faulty, maybe wire loose including it to be unsoldered.

It sounds like it could be the case that its somehow come off its contacts. Do you have other audio ports? maybe ones that arent in use? you maybe able to divert it to the other jack.

Cheers,

KK

You were right on the money dugimodo.

After pondering the problem over a bottle of Blue Sapphire I had a brainwave. ;)

Why don’t I disconnect everything Audio and turn the computer off including pulling the power lead.

Then, put the power lead back in and switch on with nothing Audio connected.

All’s good, except I have a red cross by the speaker icon in the bottom taskbar.

OK, that’s expected so I now plug in the speakers and Whoopee we have sound again. :clap

Reading between the lines of all the stuff on this matter on Google it looks like Realtek Drivers write to the Registry and if a Registry entry becomes corrupt or overwritten then this is what happens. You have to make them look for something they can’t find and when you let them find something they rewrite the entry in the registry.

Anyway, I think I’ll celebrate my victory with a nightcap. :thanks

1404266 2015-07-08 00:04:00 Well done.

Got an older mobo here that lost sound out so had to add in an old audio card I had lying around.
