| 468050 | 2006-07-02 10:28:00 | Hello Folks! My daughters computer is a Dell running XP Home Edition, but her probl;em is that it won't let her update from Windows Update. I've checked and all her settings are right, but on going to Windows Update it simply idles. Any ideas? Cheers |

| 468053 | 2006-07-03 01:37:00 | Thanks for the posts! She is running sp1. After clicking 'Windows Update' from 'All Programs', it goes to the site but refuses to download the page. She is getting very frustrated. It also takes her ages to download anything from the Net. She has no firewall at the moment, but was using Zone Alarm until quitting it as a possible reason for her problem. |

| 468055 | 2006-07-03 04:58:00 | She is on dialup. Utterly frustrated, she got Telecom to come out today and they discovered some shonkey wiring. She has now got a link with Windows Update and is downloading sp2. Hopefully the problem may be over, but I'll keep you posted. Thanks! |

| 468056 | 2006-07-03 06:08:00 | She has no firewall at the moment, but was using Zone Alarm until quitting it as a possible reason for her problem.You can be 99% sure that she's now been infected with one or more spyware/adware/trojan whatever by now to add to the woes she already had. Get that firewall re-enabled. |

| 468059 | 2006-07-03 09:20:00 | dailup? if so forget upgradeing to sp2 unless it can sit there all day . get the sp2 update on disk, a whole lot easier . there is a bit of a procedure involved with updateing to SP2 . the pc needs to be infection free and in good working order . antivirus and firewalls need to be uninstalled before updateing and reinstalled after updateing . |
