468038 2006-07-02 09:15:00 Hello everyone,

This one puzzles me. I've tried googling, but at this rate it will take a month before I find anything useful, so I thought I'd see if anyone had already had to deal with this...

The situation is simple. There is a network card, it has drivers and is reported as working properly in device manager. However, it does not appear in the Network Connections window (Windows XP Pro). The Firewire port doesn't show up either, and is also listed as working.

Details of interest:
CPU: AMD A64 3800
Mobo: MSI K8N Diamond
O/S: Windows XP Pro, SP2, completely updated
Drivers: Forceware 6.70

I've tried using older drivers, reinstalling and uninstalling drivers, disabling and enabling both the card and firewire (and either or) in BIOS, but no luck.

I know the nforce 4 NIC is crap, but this is absurd!

Cheers.

468039 2006-07-02 10:49:00 Is it actually connected to a network? My card doesn't show when its not connected.
Has it worked with another NIC in the past?

468040 2006-07-03 13:09:00 Hello,

Thanks for your reply. It doesn't make a difference whether it is connected or not, it still doesn't show up. The onboard Marvell chip works fine and appears nicely.
