2006-07-02 05:38:00 | I recently got broadband and successfully networked my desktop computer and laptop. I use an HP Photosmart 2575 All-in-one printer which was originally installed using USB connection. I successful changed this to ethernet and networked the laptop to the printer as well. Successfully is an overstatement.....I can print from both machines when online but don't seem to be able to print offline when one or both are offline. Excuse my ignorance here but should I be able to print online and offline or is the system set up just to work online? Any help advice, guidance would be appreciated. | smurf (6545) | |
2006-07-02 05:49:00 | read this (h10025.www1.hp.com) the section no router is present. Basically your router is providing an IP Address (i.e. a DHCP server) , so if you want the printer to work with it off you need to set a static ip address on the printer......

2006-07-02 08:27:00 | What do you mean by 'when one or both are offline'?Right click the printer / There should be an option "use this printer online/offline" Perhaps this is what the poster is referring to... | bob_doe_nz (92) | |
2006-07-02 10:12:00 | You can't use the printer offline - it works via the network rather than through a single user interface such as USB. | TGoddard (7263) | |
2006-07-02 14:03:00 | You also might want to get a switch, By using 2 computers and sharing the same ip your gonna find out Your gonna lose your speed.. With a Switch It will better your performance and no congestion or other traffice , it will up your speed almost double.. | native (10487) | |
2006-07-02 15:21:00 | The AIO units can be used as a copy machine and scanner while offline...but I believe that's all. Some with FAX abilities can fax if a dedicated phone line is plugged into them too, all while offline. Most AIO's don't usually have FAX as an option though.
