467811 2006-07-01 16:25:00 Hi Folks,
Have Dial-Up (Clear.net 150 Hours)
B/Band TCL Cable (1Gig plan $39;95) Or ...
Slingshot ADSL (More Gig's. Same price. But I've read. somewhere that cable is faster)?
I have Cable TV & Phone now (TCL).
My question :- Which would be the fastest & most Reliable? (Least outages)
I spend about 2 hours a day on the 'puter (Every day!) Would the 1 Gig suffice?
Please don't blind me with science, as I'm a bit thick. (Old too!)

467812 2006-07-01 17:58:00 You know your NZ systems better than I do, but I don't think I could live on 1 gig limits .

I don't have any limits, but I clocked them for a month once and found I use about 20gig . . . and I don't think that's excessive for me .

Running webcams and streaming radios 24/7 is kinda a pipe filler too .

Currently running KDSK radio, StrandCam in Hermosa Beach, CA . , and the Abbey Road cam while cruising F1 all at the same time .

Surfing for vids and music on GVid and YouTube takes a lot of time .

Cable is a little faster than (my) hook-up, but I am at 4m here on dsl, so there's not really much incentive to change for what would amount to tripling my fees .

467813 2006-07-01 23:05:00 As suggested by SurferJoe, would do a months check on your Dial up.Don't fall into the trap of multiplying your on line speed by the hours on line. With Xtra the account only listed hours used, before going off line you could see the amount downloaded and uploaded, in my case this amounted to about 500 MB but multiplying gave about 10 GB FrankS (257)
