468850 2006-07-05 21:01:00 Hi, I'm trying to restore my Packard Bell computer to its original settings using the Recovery Disc, but every time I boot up the computer with the disc in nothing happens . I'm guessing this is because I have Windows XP installed, but I'm not sure how to go about restoring thw computer without the recovery disc .

Would reinstalling XP return the computer to its original settings, and wipe all files etc? Or is there another way around it?

Thanks

Then it should attempt to boot from the disk.

Not all recovery CDs will return a computer back to original settings but unless you are given a choice you can assume that it does. That means all files and data will be wiped and will need backing up if you wish to save them.
