469299 2006-07-07 13:20:00 Hello there. Can you provide us the brand / model number of your (integrated) soundcard? When did this problem start to occur? Have you tried restarting your laptop?

Cheers :)

469300 2006-07-07 14:29:00 More info required.

1. Does it show up with an error symbol when viewed in device manager?

2. Has all sound disapeared, or just all media files.

ie- do games (even one of those crappy windows car games) have audio?, startup?, deleting the contents of the rubbish bin?

Chances are you have muted the media player and it has killed the audio for all files associated with the media player, the keys for controling the media player volume are mute F8, down f9, up f10.

Play a media file, leave the media player as the top most item on display, hit F10 a few times, if there is no audio hit F8 in the hope of unmuting it and then hit F10 a few more times.

This only covers 1 scenerio so it may not apply, but its worth a crack.
