Be careful with what program u use to clean the registry.

One bad move u can screw the system up.

469243 2006-07-07 08:21:00 The regcleaner below JV16 posted in the link by Terry Porrit is safer. I have them both and use the truncated safer version everyday on XP, that version of JV16 is potentially damaging under some circumstances ie inexperienced user. They are both written by the same person. zqwerty (97)
469244 2006-07-07 08:24:00 Ccleaner has a good name.
EasyCleaner by ToniArts has a user-friendly appearance.

I have both, but use only some of EasyCleaner's functions.
(A warning from someone here way back. Think it was tweak'e?)
I do like it's simple pie charts which show the volumes of what's on hard drives, though.

Edit:.But taking that HijackThis advice from Speedy is a good first step.

469245 2006-07-07 08:34:00 Ccleaner still gets things wrong so as per normal use with caution.

easy cleaner has been around for a long time now and is still quite good.

however what i would like to know is How the hell to you know you have spyware in the registry?

btw no regcleaner will automaticly cleanout spyware from the registry. they are for cleaning out left over reg entries after you have cleaned out the spyware.

469246 2006-07-07 09:39:00 Hkeys in the registry which point to nowhere as a result of cleaning and deleting spyware on the computer will be found and deleted by any worthwhile registry cleaner. zqwerty (97)
