469146 2006-07-07 20:48:00 Just to clarify -
What's the difference between Webmaster & the Mods?
Or would an email end up in the same place, anyway?

I ask because I was confused over that choice recently.

A new poster included his email address, ignorant of the spybots/spam activity & the problems it could bring him.
By the time I noticed & posted a warning, his 15 minutes were long gone.

It was the wee small hours ( hence no Mods on duty ) but as we know, the bots never sleep.
I guessed the Webmaster might be an IDG nine-to-five person..?
So I used the Report Bad Post button - even though it wasn't a bad post & the instructions are very stern about that.

Result? Jen edited the address out early next morning.
But I still don't know whether I did the right thing or not.
Some advice, please - in case there's a next time...Well, for a start the webmaster won't boot you for being abusive (unless you start trashing their site, then you invite trouble) :p
You did the right thing, click submit as bad post and someone will attend to it soon.
Theys good like that
/me clicks fingers.. Oh and Jeeves, while youre there... :p

The webmaster looks after the functionality of the websites, but does not partake in the moderation or editing of the forum. A report bad post alert gets emailed out to all of the Mods and who ever gets to it first will look into it.

Despite the instructions on when to use the report bad post function, that certainly doesn't stop some bright bunnies who decide to use it for telling us about their computer problems. I could only presume they couldn't find the New Thread or Reply button but managed to find a tiny report bad post icon ...
