469903 2006-07-10 21:18:00 Hey People :)

I am looking for a Router with wireless and 4 Ethernet ports to share the net connection, I am looking at the Linksys WRT54GL (www.ascent.co.nz) and want to know if that can share the net connection over wireless with only the addition of a wireless PCI card.

I like this one because I have heard the Linksys are good quality and feature enriched products :D

Also because I am sick of having to use ICS as this is very unreliable, and my mum gets very annoyed when she can't get the net (which is fair enough).:groan:

Also, we have a laser printer and a colour printer, these both have ethernet ports for network printing, will I be able to connect these and network print?

Also, here (www-nz.linksys.com) is the manufacturers site. After reading this I have a fair idea that it does what I want, just want you guys to confirm before I go buy it :)

Thanks peps :D

469905 2006-07-11 00:43:00 Yes to the secound question as well with a condition. The condition is that your os supports IP port redirection printing; xp does, 98 doesnt unless you give it some help. Not sure about anyother os's because I havent tried.

You of course need to know the ip assigned to the printer. Print out a configuration page from the printer when connected to your network. A good idea also would be to make the ip of your printer static (other wise printing could become interesting one day if the ip changed)

If you need a an utility to help 98 support ip printing pm me with your email address.

469906 2006-07-11 01:43:00 Thanks, Just wanted to make sure, I am running XP Pro on both machines, I should have said. I guess I will get onto ordering it tonight.

I have always had problems with non-statics IPs so I use static anyway.

Thanks :)
