470218 2006-07-14 03:57:00 i pressed f6 and it continued to load and finally i got a error saying "mountmgr.sys is corrupted".

It continued to load because it is looking for a floppy & didn't find one

470219 2006-07-14 09:07:00 Well since this raid thing is causing complications i went to bios and set it to IDE instead of RAID. then booted win2k and errrr got another error. " File\i386\biosinfo.inf could not be loaded. error code is 32768"

Also there was a option of disable instead of RAID,IDE. i set it to disable but the same error comes up.

470220 2006-07-14 20:00:00 I wouldn't have changed any BIOS settings as (I assume) it was booting OK into XP, the reason you can't install 2000 properly is because you have a SATA drive & you need to load those drivers when you install the OS as XP & 2000 don't have SATA drivers included, until you do this you will continue to have problems and changing settings will only make the hole deeper..... :D snoopy (74)

wel the problem is that i dont have a floppy drive, however i took 1 out from another computer to put it into this 1, but there seems to be no power connector for floppy drive. all the other ones are either this (www.buildeasypc.com) or this (www.atozincomputer.com)

470222 2006-07-15 01:01:00 Looks like you are snookered there unless you want to get the wire cutters, etc. out and add a floppy power plug, as I said before the other alternative would be to make an unattended install CD including the sata drivers

470225 2006-07-17 04:46:00 You may be able to get something from DSE

http://www.dse.co.nz

or maybe one of these may do the job

470226 2006-07-29 00:27:00 Solved. I got a power adapter for floppy drive and inserted the raid drivers all worked fine windows 2k installed with no problems.
Now one last question. I was thinking to format my partition where XP is installed and install XP again due to some hardware upgrade. Will this effect my win2k acesss.

No it will be fine, this is the MS recommended way of installing dualboots ie. Oldest OS 1st.

Remember to use your floppy disk to install the SATA drivers during installation.
