471173 2006-07-15 11:37:00 hi,
hoping some can help me.
I am running xp and have installed azureus and am trying to set up a static ip and apparantly also need to forward my ports. i have read a fair bit of doco on all the above including portforward.com. My problem is no matter what i try i stil get nat errors.
If someone could please explain it to me in lamens terms exactly what to do and how to do it it would be muchly appreciated.
I have had other people try to help but i still don't know what i am doing.
have pity on me i'm a newb to all this :help:

471174 2006-07-15 18:42:00 firstly you do not need to set your computer a static ip, it's not worth the hassle because the modem will allocate you an ip based on the record of your mac id . . . ie it will always assign you the same address .

Open the modem setup, click WAN, click NAT, then change the dropbox on the right from NAT Global info to NAT Rule Entry . Click "Add" .
Rule flavor should be RDR or "Redirect" depending on what version 302g you have .
Rule id should be the next available number . . . probably 2 if you have never added a rule .
IF NAME should be ALL
PROTOCOL should be TCP (or whatever protocol azureus will use)
Local address from and to should be the address assigned to your pc ie in my case I would have 10 . 1 . 1 . 4/10 . 1 . 1 . 4 (you cannot assign a range eg 10 . 1 . 1 . 3 - 10 . 1 . 1 . 34 because it will not work for multiples)
Global address from and TO leave as is .
Destination port FROM and TO should be the tcp port number you specified in azureus
Local Port leave as is

. . . . save your settings and the rule will be active

471175 2006-07-16 00:10:00 i have a pc..not a mac. does that matter. In all the other stuff i have read it says i need to get a static ip. if so why/why not?
i have done what you said and it still says i am dht firewalled (windows firewall turned off) and i am not connected to any peers and also receive nat error for the port i opened. Should i just try different ports?
thanx again for your help

471176 2006-07-16 00:19:00 mac id has nothing to do with mac computers.

471177 2006-07-16 00:24:00 Go into your virtual server settings and open up port 40808 both TCP and UDP that is all you should have to do.

I did try the same as you for many hours without success. ADSL302g modem and linksys WRT54G router and gave up at the end. I am selling the wrt54g, bought a linksys wag54g router/modem and within the next 5 minutes it was all going.

471181 2006-07-16 05:27:00 I know the feeling...the 302g should be banned... Anyway. it is working at the moment, but still slow. I have 42 seeds for one and 11 for the other. is there a way to speed it up or am i stuck with slow speeds. meronr (10737)
471182 2006-07-16 06:20:00 dudes I dont know what all the fuss is around here about the 302g modems...if you ask me theres nothing wrong with them...I have never had a problem forwarding ports and I use 2 - 3 comnputers through my dsl 302g to play battlefield2 and 1942 online also numerous other games and I dont even have a router with it...I just plugged an ethernet switch straight into it and networked all my machines through it using it as a dhcp server. (although according to dlink you cant do that) So if you ask me...it's perceived shortcomings are more then likely the users lack of insight then the modems quality of build. straitjacket (9698)
