471098 2006-07-15 08:42:00 I've recently changed ISP's and since then the smilies I post on a forum I belong to aren't animated like they were before I changed. Everyone else on the forum can see them moving except me. Is there a setting maybe I've missed?

Thanks
Fiwi (6429)
471099 2006-07-15 10:40:00 Check your browser settings - it shouldn't have anything to do with your ISP. Depending what browser you use there may be a setting that determines how many times, or whether or not, animated images actually animate.

If you can't give any more info about your system etc then you'll have to work it out yourself :groan:

471100 2006-07-15 18:07:00 I'm using IE on Window XP. It just seems strange that this has changed in the last week that's all. What am I supposed to be looking for in settings? Fiwi (6429)
471101 2006-07-15 23:48:00 Open IE, go to Tools / Internet Options / Advanced. Scroll down to Multimedia, and check that Play Animations in Web Pages is ticked.

Pretty sure that'll do it, but I can't explain why changing ISP's has affected this unless they've made an auto-update to your browser or you've used a setup disk they provided.

471102 2006-07-15 23:59:00 Is it just that one forum where you can't see the animations or is it all sites and forums? We have animated smilies here, do you see them animated?

471103 2006-07-16 02:16:00 I'm using IE You might want to consider changing your browser to something like Mozilla or Mozilla Firefox - it'd be a sensible move. Greg (193)
471104 2006-07-16 08:24:00 The multimedia box is ticked Greg, and I can't see the smilie on here hitting the computer either. I've tried Firefox in the past and deleted it after a while. Back to the drawing board for me I guess. Thanks for your suggestions. Fiwi (6429)
471105 2006-07-16 08:37:00 Are you using Zone Alarm for your firewall? If you are, have a look under Privacy and Ad Blocker options. Make sure you haven't blocked animation. Jen (38)
471106 2006-07-16 09:30:00 Hi Jen, yes I do use ZoneAlarm but I've never changed anything since I enabled it about three years ago, so I'm completely stumped. Thanks for you suggestion though. Everything was working as normal until the beginning of the week. Fiwi (6429)
471107 2006-07-16 09:35:00 Did you actually go and check the settings to make sure some ZA update hadn't changed them? Jen (38)
