470891 2006-07-14 22:39:00 I have several AVI files... all of them play fine on my PC, but some don't play at all on the xbox. I have read somewhere that it could be something to do with whatever version of divx they were originally encoded with...

So...

I was wondering how to re-encode the avi files. Is it possible? I'd probably use xvid rather than divx to encode with, as the xbox seems to like xvids a bit better, but how do I do it?

Cheers,
Mike.

470892 2006-07-15 01:51:00 Virtual dub will do it as long as you have the xvid codec installed. lazydog (148)
470893 2006-07-15 01:59:00 Virtual dub will do it as long as you have the xvid codec installed.Unfortunately I can't figure out how to get virtual dub to do it. When I went "Save as AVI..." it started running, but about 10 minutes in it said it was projecting a 78GB file!!!?!?!? I was hoping for something around 700MB (same size as the original). Am I doing something wrong?

Cheers,
Mike.

470894 2006-07-15 07:53:00 I use Blaze Media Pro, as I posted in another thread.

Interesting to note tho I updated my DivX from 6.0 to 6.2 and my DivX encode option in Blaze was removed. Instead DivX game me their encoder which I don't like. So I rolled back my comp cos uninstalling it didn't do the trick.

So yeah, Blaze Media Pro is the go!

By the way, my Xbox seems to play anything and everything, it's fantastic. It hasnt turned me down yet the little beauty.

I tried pushing it through AutoGK... told me the audio stream was an unsupported type. I suppose this is why the Xbox won't use it as well :(

I kid you not.It didn't quite do the job for me. It re-encoded it, but totally screwed up the audio-video timing... I think I'll stick with Auto-GK :)
