471219 2006-07-16 00:44:00 Hi everyone, I recently bought a laptop and I was wondering if there is a way I can obtain a copy of the Original Winxp disk, since the software came preloaded.
I have a lisence key etc, but would like the disk to reload it in the future.

Thanks.

471220 2006-07-16 00:46:00 It might be on the hdd on a hidden partition somewhere. Speedy Gonzales (78)
471221 2006-07-16 01:01:00 Most brand name laptops come with an "operating System" cd with XP on it but it isn't labelled as "XP". What brand/model laptop is it? :)

Cheers

Ah ok, Speedy is right.....Acer obviously do it like the desktops. Im pretty darn sure they install an application that allows you do delete the partion & burn the OS to a dvd.....in saying that i have a funny feeling I read somewhere it doesn't do anything about the drivers & XP doesn't have them all leaving you to try and download them off the net :(

471224 2006-07-16 01:15:00 Must be so, It wants 4 cds! rediculous. I have already Downloaded al the drivers so atleast I can make it work when i need to reformat in an emergency.

Wonder if i can make it burn to a remote dvdwriter over my network?

471225 2006-07-16 01:30:00 Had a quick look at the Acer site, you should have got a manual maybe on CD or on your HD telling you about Acer eRecovery Management, if you didn't you can download the pdf from the site, tells you all about your recovery options. snoopy (74)
471226 2006-07-16 02:13:00 Try calling your supplier and tell em you didn't receive the Recovery Disk Greg (193)

I think this would be the first response, don't do anything that may void your warranty first!!!!!
