471762 2006-07-18 10:35:00 I've just brought a new CPU for my computer. It's a Pentium 4 660 3.6ghz (you can check www.trademe.co.nz for more info). Well, after finally getting it installed which was a mission in itself, it seems to make the computer runs slower. What am I doing wrong?
The Original CPU and M/B can be found here www.trademe.co.nz None of the BIOS settings have been touched and are still on default. Please Please help me!!!

471763 2006-07-18 10:42:00 check jumpers/bios settings for any front bus speeds or multiplier settings.
Is the total speed okay (check bios) ? Maybe your CPU is overheating and is automatically dropping its speed (i,e, heatsink, heatsink compound applied correctly, fan working okay ?)

471764 2006-07-18 12:32:00 Is the processor correctly identified by the computer? Right click My Computer > Properties, CPU properties are displayed on the front page.

If not correctly displayed it is a front bus / multiplier issue. If it is, maybe a heat problem as above.
