| 471482 | 2006-07-17 05:30:00 | Good Afternoon Everyone: Last week I noticed a strange file called wireless.exe appeared out of nowhere on my desktop. Right clicking on it I found out those strange things: Size: 0KB It was created on the 25th of June 2006 at 1:00:07 though it was modified on 25th of June 2006 at 1:00:00 ?! - Modified before it was created?!?! But the problem lies in the last accessed time, it's constantly being accessed by Windows! Even though when I double click on it it tells me that it's an invalid Win32 program! Now my computer's CPU won't step down and because it's being constantly accessed, the battery life has shorted too! It has nothing else in the properties section, no company, no version, nothing. And worst of all, I can't delete it, as it always says that "A program is using this file......" I went into my registry and deleted everything that's called wireless.exe but no use. It is a bit of a burden for my computer, and for me too because my desktop's got this ugly useless icon. I do use WiFi at home, though I have not installed any new programs for quite a while. Any help with removing this thing would be dearly appreciated, Thanks everyone, Tom |

| 471483 | 2006-07-17 05:49:00 | Boot the computer in Safe Mode, then delete it. If that doesn't work, boot from a Live version of Linux (you boot from the CD), and delete from there (as Linux can't read .exe files). | pcuser42 (130) | ||
| 471484 | 2006-07-17 06:04:00 | Hello friend: I just tried the safe-mode method but it didn't work, I get the same "program in use" error message. Sorry I forgot to point out that I'm using WinXp Pro with the latest updates. Do you have any other suggestions? Many Thanks, Tom |

| 471487 | 2006-07-17 06:47:00 | See if Unlocker deletes it. By kill I meant end its process, but u cant, since its not there. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
