471361 2006-07-16 12:52:00 Hi, I really need help please .

I have formatted my Harddisk which used to be Windws ME edition . I formatted my Harddisk by following this site:

. ehow . com/how_6026_format-hard-drive . html" target="_blank">www . ehow . com

the 'DOS - C Drive' part . I ahve created the Startup Floppy, and I have formatted the harddisk . I have restarted my PC WITHOUT The Startup Disk and a message on a pitch black background pops up saying:

"Invalid System Disk,
Replace the Disk and then press any Key"

I cant do anything, even if I do insert the Windows Xp disk . The msg just repeates itself whenever I press I button .

I now restarted my Cmputer WITH the Startup Floppy Disk I created earlier on . This time, something came up . It says:

Microsoft Windows Millenium Startup Menu
----------------------------------------

1 . Help
2 . Start Computer with CD-ROM Support
3 . Start Computer without CD-ROM Support
4 . Minimal Boot

Enter a Choice: _

and then at the bottom it says:

F5= Safe Mode Shift+F5= Command Prompt Shift+F8 = Step-by-step Confirmation [N]

I tried and tried, but to no avail .

Whenever I choose an option, an A:\> comes out .

If I type : E:\setup . exe after it, it says: Invalid Specification or something . I dont know what to do . Now I have got a computer thats got nothing except a black screen and some white sentences . Oh, and I tried to install back the Windows ME with the Windows ME disk, but I dont know how . I cant even revert it back to WINDOWS ME now!

Help appreciated . Im begging for help . I am absolutely clueless .

471362 2006-07-16 13:21:00 Go into the bios and change the first boot option to be the cdplayer, then put in the winxp cd and follow the prompts.

If your computer cannot boot from cd then you are going to have to create a virtual cd drive by getting the correct floppy boot disk.

471363 2006-07-16 17:27:00 I have now installed Windows XP. Thank you. But now, the problem is that I cannot get it to work with the internet, whereas it worked before with Windows ME. I Think I may have formatted the Network Adapters or something. I have broadband, and I cannot get my PC to work with it. It works on my Laptop though (networking), so I assume that its not the ISPs problem or the modem. When I insert the broadband installer disc, it says that the network adapter is missing. how can it be missing, when I was using the internet before the Windows upgrade? Help Please. :badpc: Naruto28 (7236)
471364 2006-07-16 17:51:00 Ok, now its getting all wrong. My computer has broken I think. It wont turn on. The monitor wont work. but the CPU works. Naruto28 (7236)
471365 2006-07-16 20:35:00 Try the monitor on your laptop. If it doesn't work, it's time for a new monitor. pcuser42 (130)
471366 2006-07-16 21:02:00 Did you install the motherboard drivers after you installed XP? You may have a CD that came with the computer with them on. Otherwise you will need to find out what make/model your motherboard is and download the appropriate drivers. Jen (38)

Will it boot into Safe Mode at all? Does it need a new CMOS battery?
