2006-07-17 06:30:00 | Using XP pro When I boot up I get two screens open, System 32 and "Common" which should be hidden files. How do I hide them? and what has caused them to show now, after years of being hidden. Ron24..

2006-07-17 06:34:00 | Take a snapshot of it and upload it here (www.imagef1.net.nz) and post the link it gives u back here. And get the file in my sig below. We'll see if something shows in there.

2006-07-18 03:18:00 | For the snapshot: Just get the offending screen up and hit the "Print Screen SysReq" key...probably between your ten-pad and the normal keyboard. Then open WordPad in your Start>>Programs>>Accessories area, and put the pointer in the middle of the white area and right click and "Paste" there. Send that file to here: www.imagef1.net.nz Be sure to put your username on it and copy/paste the resulting link to your response when you post here again...easy-peasy!

2006-07-18 14:59:00 | Good idea . . . just a habit with me to use WordPad . . . . . . . . I set WordPad up to start up at boot and since it's such a small prgm, it doesn't run the boot-time up much at all . I always have it available very early on for troubles that I want to screen-shot, that's why .

2006-07-20 07:05:00 | The System32 window opening up is a known problem - System32 Folder Opens When Logging on to Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows NT 4.0 (support.microsoft.com) If you are not comfortable manually editing the registry, you can get a script to fix this for you from here (www.kellys-korner-xp.com) - you will need to scroll down to #260 and click on the link on the right hand side of the table. Note from above website: To use the VBS Files: Download .vbs file and save it to your hard drive (you may want to right click and use Save Target As). Double click the vbs file. You will be prompted when the script is done. Not sure why the common folder is opening as well.
