471424 2006-07-17 01:45:00 I just got told by one of my boys to not map thru the soundcard for security reasons...this is the son at M$ as a tech.

Now I wonder...what does it mean and why is he telling me that?

471426 2006-07-17 02:22:00 I would, but he sent me a text message while he's driving to his honeymoon destination...I'll let him continue the communication...not me! SurferJoe46 (51)

471429 2006-07-17 02:41:00 OK Eddy, I got that...but does it take some resources away or just use up a lot of RAM or what?

Is it a security threat?

I understand if I was using a recording studio device or program..but I am not always using that stuff (sometimes just Audacity or WMP).

What's the penalty for having the card mapped all the time?

471430 2006-07-17 03:10:00 I have no idea about a security threat....I just cant see anyone trying to hack into the sound card :D It must release more resources Pancake (6359)

You know.....I wouldn't find it too strange that there might be hackers trying to do just that though!
