I was under the (patently wrong!) impression the benefit of a DVD v CD was that you can get more data on a DVD, it wasn't anything to do with the quality of the data taken from it. Yes, for the first time "Flight Simulator" will ship on DVD only in order to provide the highest level of detail and realism for the product and we do not plan to offer a CD-based version. | 472524 | 2006-07-21 09:00:00 | No, you are not wrong. The file sizes required for the extra level of quality they now want to offer will only fit on the DVD. They won't fit on a CD, the scenery quality would have to be lowered in order to do so. It's image quality = higher file sizes. |

DVD disks hold more data than cd's . the game would fit on several cd's or one dvd . a single dvd is simply cheaper to make than multiple cd's . also just because the game has large file size doesn't necessarily mean it will look good, there are other reasons for large file sizes . |

Cheers Tim I consider it a brilliant idea. fs9 is on four CD's and FSX is supposed to be twice as big. It would be as bad as installing Word off 10 floppies. |
