| 471938 | 2006-07-19 04:32:00 | Hi, I work from Australia and our company has a couple of sites in NZ. We are planning on putting broadband in our Botany town centre site. Can you make any recommendations? We hope to VOIP (back to Aust and out to clients)and need an "up" of 256kbps or greater with low jitter and good pings. I would prefer a static IP as we occasionally use VPNs. Do the local ISP's block ports? Rich |

| 471939 | 2006-07-19 04:57:00 | Hello Techhelp Welcome to PressF1 :) Can I ask what company you work for & whats the name of the company at Botany town centre site?? (If you dont want to post this in public you can PM me) (Just interested here thats all :) ) We hope to VOIP (back to Aust and out to clients)and need an "up" of 256kbps or greater with low jitter and good pings . Ha! I hope you have some $$$$ as if you want any thing better then 128K you may need to speed some $$$$ If I was you I would ask the Botany town centre managent & a few shop owners as I would have thought there might be a few shops that have broadband & might be able to give you a good idea . Also you will be lucky with the pings & low jitter . I would prefer a static IP as we occasionally use VPNs . I Hope you have a few $$$$ as some ISP's change a arm & a leg :p for a static IP address Do the local ISP's block ports? NZ Biggest ISP Xtra is or should be blocking port 25, but I dont know about the rest of the ISP's I Hope this helps :) |

| 471940 | 2006-07-19 05:07:00 | Port 25 is Mail Stu..... And yes Telecom blocks VOIP, not only that but most VOIP apps use your PC as leave so even if you are not using VOIP yourself, your bandwidth & system resources maybe being used. I would see what TelstraClear has available as they may have dedicated connections accross the Tasman which would be cheaper in the long ran. |

| 471941 | 2006-07-19 05:25:00 | Thanks for the replies stu161204 and SoulMeister. I will look into TelstraClear (are they the same as Telstra in Aust? They are rogue$ here, but being the underdogs in NZ may keep them honest) Usually we use HW for the VOIP (Billion 7404vgo's or SPA2000's) so we need port 5060 / 5061. Any other other suggestions for plans/providers are welcome rich |
