472763 2006-07-22 05:14:00 I've been thinking about getting system mechanic for my pc, but I've heard both good and bad about it throughout my research and can't make up my mind. So I'm hoping you guys may be able to help me out a bit...

is system mechanic any good?

thanks all! :)

472764 2006-07-22 09:21:00 gidday,

yeh, probably a good way to describe it would be yes and no,

On the plus side it offers a huge amount of tweaks and cleaners, etc,
on the other hand, it doesnt seem to suit some computers.

I've seen a HP computer, slow considerably, when ever a
tweak was tried, and it is known to play around with wireless keyboards.

A nice system, but might pay to try before buy.

cheers,

Robby

472765 2006-07-22 19:46:00 Yeah, System mechanic is worth trying beforehand.
Has some very smart additons like registry compress and does a systematic scan.

RegistryFix is a good fast way of sorting probs, but hasnt as many tweaks though does offer some sturdy gizmos like system restore that fixed me even when Windows restore wouldnt work due to trojans.

Better try em out first but mate, theres that many about.

472766 2006-07-25 08:31:00 I unintentionally downloaded system doctor. Are these things anygood at all?

I did not keep system doctor but did play around with it. It actually did nothing without you actually paying first so I deleted it.

Is there a recommended type of these apps?

472767 2006-07-29 12:45:00 have used system mechanic for over 3 years. never had a problem and it found and fixed errors that other programmes couldn't. version 6 is really great but I suggest once installed that you disable system analyzer and system gaurd alerter through msconfig start options as these 2 options can slow system down. They are able to be run manually when required. I have never regreted spending the money for this product and have seen some pretty great reviews from many others who are greatly satisfied. jad01 (422)
472768 2006-07-29 12:47:00 Wireless keyboards affected by system gaurd alerter and there own scanning options. jad01 (422)
472769 2006-07-30 00:35:00 No. IT's Spam. Or at least the trial version is. Certainly not worth the asking price JJJJJ (528)
