472911 2006-07-23 03:01:00 Hi All . . .

I am a newbie to this forum and found most of the posts really helpful . . So thought someone could solve my problem as well . :help:

Whenever I press the shutdown option in my computer, it restarts . I am Running Windows Xp SP2 . I had this problem before and I completely formatted the computer . The problem still exists . I tried No-Adware, Adaware, Spybot and Bazooka . None of them show any problems and scanned with Norton and Bit-Defender . Everything seems fine but still the problem exists .

I have the "Automatically Restart on System failure" properties of the System Properties Disabled . I am having it disabled even before the computer was formatted .

Hope to get this problem solved .

Cheers

Whenever I press the shutdown option in my computer
Just want to clarify one thing, what did you mean by "shutdown option"? Did you mean when you click Start > Turn Off Computer and it automatically restarts? Or did you mean this occurs when you click "Turn Off" in the shutdown options?

Cheers :)

472913 2006-07-23 03:22:00 The restart is XP's way of dealing with a "serious failure" unloading a driver or similar process at shutdown.

I would consider renewing the major drivers one at a time, see which one fixes it.

472915 2006-07-23 22:23:00 I was thinking it might even mean push the shutdown 'button' on the PC to turn it off as you can change the effect of this as well. Nutter (10601)
472916 2006-07-29 12:58:00 do you have an optical mouse or keyboard? if so check the power settings under properties and turn off the option to allow this device to restart computer jad01 (422)
