2006-07-21 10:39:00 | See if it can be changed in the BIOS. Nothing wrong with it being on 8x. Why do u want it on 4x?

2006-07-21 10:43:00 | It may be to do with stability guys. I have a Powercolor 9600 pro 8x 256 and it had major stability issues, would blank the screen with reset being the only way out or would freeze machine completely, likewise reset. Sometimes the vpu recover would work but it would revert to software mode so I had to restart anyway :badpc: The best fix appeared to be dropping the speed to 4x after going thru the stress of swapping stuff in and out and buying gruntier psu etc, and changing the cooler to a copper jobbier on the gfx card .....since I dropped it to 4x it has never caused a crash :annoyed: | straitjacket (9698) | |
2006-07-21 10:52:00 | i wonder if its a driver issue. check for new mobo and vid card drivers. | tweak'e (69) | |
2006-07-21 11:00:00 | Went thru all that grief too - tried all the latest drivers from ati etc tried the card in other pcs, everything. All the forums I hunted down agreed it was something about those cards...wether or not they were correct I don't know but I know since I dropped that speed that computer has been the most stable I've got. I just got sick of messing around with it, and couldnt afford anything else at the time :( Also tried a whole bunch of older and obscure/beta drivers!

2006-07-21 11:07:00 | I used it with a msi k7n2 delta and a msi km4m-L (MS-6734) and currently got it in a gigabyte k8vm800m triton - same on all 3 no matter what drivers :badpc: (I thought that by changing boards the first time it would fix it, the second I just want an amd64 :) ) | straitjacket (9698) | |
2006-07-22 04:02:00 | could you tell me how to change it......a more detailed instruction please?
