2006-07-26 04:41:00 | Hi, I have a Asus K8S-LA Motherboard with a Intergrated Network card and recently it has not been responding to anything. I can't connect to the internet, when i try it get a Error 678. So then i went to the store and bought a new pci network card and tried to install it but it didnt work it didnt show up in device manager or anywhere on my computer. I also disabled the intergrated networkcard before trying to install the pci networkcard. After that I called the HP tech support and they said they can't fix it because the INTERGRATED network card is broken and can't be fix or replaced with new pci card or anysort. They wanted me to buy a whole new computer from them but i didn't. If i just buy a new Asus K8S-LA motherboard will that fix the whole problem? And is it true that when you have a intergrated network card then you can't install a new pci network card? (For some motherboards like this one?) Thanks

2006-07-26 04:51:00 | Welcome to PressF1 . You should be able to install another network card, even without disabling the integrated one . It's reasonably common to have two cards in use . Have you tried using the Hardware Manager to "remove" the integrated network adapter, then shutting down and restarting, so it will be reinstalled . If that doesn't work, have a look and see if the BIOS setup has an option to disable it, or at least use the Hartdware Manager option "not used in this . . . " . I wouldn't rush off to buy a new motherboard . . . there's usually a simpler answer to most problems . ;)

After that I called the HP tech support and they said they can't fix it because the INTERGRATED network card is broken and can't be fix or replaced with new pci card or anysort . Error 678 -The Computer You Are Dialing Into Is Not Answering This error normally occurs when using Windows XP . This can be resolved by following these steps: Windows XP * Restart your computer and wait until all applications have completely loaded before trying to reconnect . * Click on the Start Menu and then select Run . In the box which appears type the word command in order to open the command prompt and then click OK . In the black command prompt window, type netsh interface ip reset log . txt and click on Enter on your keyboard . Then type exit into the command prompt and then click on Enter on your keyboard . Now restart your computer and reconnect to the Internet . * If your problem has still not been resolved uninstall and reinstall your Broadband modem . |

2006-07-26 06:49:00 | Thanks guys for the replies . . . I've just now tried the netsh interface and it didnt work, but the Error now changed to 769 . . . I've also called my internet provider and my computer (HP) tech support a dozen of times and they just can't fix it . The only solution they have for me is to buy a new computer . But i don't want to spend hundreds . So do you guys think if i just buy a new motherboard (Asus K8S-LA Motherboard) it will fix the whole problem? Anymore other help from you guys will be gladly accepted . Thanks guys

2006-07-26 08:21:00 | Try some of the fixes here (www.xtra.co.nz) I used to get the same error (the ISP not answering) a few mths ago on Ihug. On dialup. This was the modem not the NIC. It was a prob at their end, not mine.
