473577 2006-07-26 02:40:00 Does anyone know if it is possible to instal Windows Vista Beta on my E Drive? Are they any known problems? My Hdd is partitioned into C & E and I have XP on C Drive currently and wish to instal Vista as a second OS. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. ephesus (2509)
473578 2006-07-26 02:51:00 Ephesus - shouldn't be any problems if on separate partitions, howver remember it is a beta version, so no guarantees.

Oh, what withthe name, Ive been there, its in Turkey

473579 2006-07-26 03:04:00 As Solmiester said, no probs, just remember to install from within XP so the dual boot sets up properly & of course pick the right partition to install Vista on, otherwise bye bye XP installation . :horrified :) snoopy (74)

Do I need to install boot loader to do this? Suggestion?

473582 2006-07-26 05:29:00 No, if you start the install from within XP, it will reboot to complete install and admend the boot loader for you. Allegdedly!!! SolMiester (139)

Vista has a different boot setup from XP, doesn't use boot.ini, etc, have XP running, put the Vista DVD in and follow the prompts, works very well for a Microsoft Beta product

So if there is a problem with Vista or if I prefer XP, I can revert back to the original OS easily??

473585 2006-07-26 06:51:00 After the install you will have a boot menu similar to XP, with Earlier version of windows (XP) & Microsoft Windows (Vista) options. snoopy (74)
