473793 2006-08-31 21:48:00 seanv you really should have started your own thread with your query, not tack it on the end of someone else's one.

Your log looks pretty ghastly, have you run any anti-spyware tools? Have a look here (faqf1.net.nz) and follow the instructions under what to do if you are infected.

473795 2006-09-01 23:00:00 Well done. Cicero (40)
473796 2006-09-02 01:47:00 then did the online scan and said found 724 things but it can delete them beacsue you need 2 register seanv (10823)
473797 2006-09-02 04:48:00 What four items did Adaware not remove? Make sure you also run Spybot as that usually picks up more objects . Running those two programs in safe mode is also recommended .

Which online scan did you do? TrendMicro should have been able to delete them .

473798 2006-10-14 21:04:00 I Used Pancakes suggestion - smitfraudfix - and it seems to have worked.

I am very new to computers - so it was great to find help so easily.
Many thanks for your help :-)

473799 2007-01-07 21:10:00 Hello, first time I use these sites.

Had exactly the same problem.
Had managed to agree to install som missing ActiveX component, and then it was done. I should have known better.

But I used the same solution I have found to be very effective in the past with Spysheriff.
The cure is to not delete, but change the files.

I had four unwanted programs running, and when stopping them they just was restarted imediatly.
The files were:
isamonitor.exe
isamini.exe
pmmon.exe
pmsngr.exe

I searched for the folder containing these files and found them all in the same folder called VideoactiveX.
Tried to delete the folder, but that wasn't allowed.
So I simply opened the folder and changed the file extension on all .exe files to .txt.
Then manually stopped the programs by using task manager.
Then changed the .dll extension to .Txt as well.
The icon files can be deleted.
Now the folder can be deleted or renamed.

This has worked for me, but it might come back again as it did with Spysheriff.
Then if this happens, use the same procedure.
But don't delete the folder nor the files.
Instead open the files with wordpad and delete all context.
Then simply put som REM lines so that the files size is bigger than zero.
The change the file extensions back to original.

This has worked perfect with Spysheriff and expect it to work this time too.

This is not a cure, but a bypass. But, as long as it works!

Thank's for a fine forum.
