| 473482 | 2006-07-27 07:29:00 | being the proud owner of a 7900gt SLI rig, I can happily say that SLI is awesome, when you actually get it set up right... However even when I have reverted to running a single 7900gt I ahve been able to run every game I have at full with a heck of a lot of AA and AF turned on. so +1 vote for the 7900gt here |

So, your max res would be 1280x1024....you dont need a SLI set up as they are for 1600x1200 +...single card 7900 series, even a 7600GT would be fine. |

| 473485 | 2006-07-28 20:02:00 | oh man.. still 50/50.. well, the rest of my PC is damn expensive so maybe I'll just get me a Asus Extreme N6600GT... the heatsink doesn't look "Extreme" though.. it looks woosy... :P | hamstar (4) | ||
| 473486 | 2006-07-28 20:15:00 | hamstar if you are looking to play the latest games at good res with the latest effects such as pixel shading/dynamic lighting etc you will be sadly disappointed with the 6600gt, and 2 6600gt is equiv to the same price as 7900 gt but the 7900 will outstrip the 6600 in sli. I went down that road and ended up spending lots of money later to get a better graphics card for my current rig (just wish I'd waited now for the 7900!! seeing as I bought a 7800 gtx) :( EDIT: For example I can play Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter at MAXIMUM detail @ 1280 x 1024 with all effects on high and AF/AA turned on. You will be able to run a 6600gt at 1280 x 1024 obviously but you wont be able to have the detail/effects on max....so if like me that is what you are after then you would be best to get a 7900 |
