| 473144 | 2006-07-24 10:31:00 | Hey there everyone After some big trouble with Ubuntu 5.10 and my sound hardware (Nvidia nForce integrated) I have now decided to give Ubuntu 6.06 a chance on my home PC's spare 40GB HDD (who cares if it has a few bad sectors?). However, before doing this I really want to know, in the case that Ubuntu screws up again, or I need my second disk back is there an easy way to remove Ubuntu? I have tried out the Live CD and although it works fine I'm bound to encounter some sort of trouble with a full installation. I know how to erase the OS, it's the MBR I'm worried about, where GRUB stops responding after its config files (existing on the Linux partition) disappear. The last time I ended up having to reinstall WinXP (a task which takes me eons to completely recover from). Even fixmbr in WinXP recovery mode didn't completely fix it. Any suggestions (before I make the move)? |

In which case Boot off XP CD, hit "repair" and go to recovery consol prompt. Type "fixboot" Type "fixmbr" reboot, format whatever partition with Linux. |
