| 473127 | 2006-07-24 10:01:00 | I've just replaced the ram, it was 256meg ddr266 & is now 512meg ddr400. I replaced it as one of the ram sticks died a few months ago & it was struggling on 256meg. The problem is it won't boot to the desktop with icons, it displays the wallpaper & thats it. I tried it with the old ram stick & it's the same. Tried the fixboot in rescue, no good. Any ideas ? |

When I boot into safe mode I get a black screen with text in the corners & along the top + a mouse pointer. I can access it from another computer on the network but can't get to the files I really want to keep |
