| 1405781 | 2015-08-03 06:51:00 | I'm trying to setup my work email on Outlook for Android. Email is hosted on clear.net.nz and doesn't have any security. It seems that Outlook will only try connecting using secure ports and doesn't give any option to change it manually. Does anyone know a way around this? It works fine on the Windows Mail app so it only makes sense that it should work on the Android app...or is this microsoft stuff not as seamless as they make out? Cheers |

Cheers I think you mean clear.net.nz email doesnt support ssl & still is using ONLY port 25 for send its because you are using an old, creaky , abandoned email provider stuck in last centuries tech. Change your email provider/host . Use a different email client Expect some issues |

| 1405784 | 2015-08-05 10:07:00 | I haven't tried Outlook on Android but would be surprised if it didn't have options for ports and SSL. The fact that they use port 25 and no SSL is not because they are old etc. They are owned by Vodafone and all email is sent via port for Vodafone, Clearnet and iHug. But you cannot send emails unless you are using their system. I'm not sure if they do imap. Might only do POP. |

And you are correct about not being able to send emails unless using their internet connection. I work around this though by using my gmail account as the smtp server as google allows this and supports an automatic reply-to the address from which the email address was sent. They definitely do IMAP as I have that setup on my mac laptop and outlook/mail for windows. All working fine. Any reason to use Outlook on Android? Cheers, KK Reason for using outlook is that I have tried just about mail app on my phone and outlook seems like it's the simple solution I'm after which could of supported my gmail and work accounts. I don't send anything more than a one sentence response via email from my phone and mostly just use it for checking if there is important emails when I'm out of the office. I was using k9mail which was great but outlook looks cleaner and the calendar sync between my mac air, ipad mini, windows desktop and android phone works flawlessly with minimal setup. |

Yes they are old, in fact they are semi abandoned (my opinion), thats why there is no roaming send capability & why no SSL & only port 25 Very last century, last where it came from, thats where it belongs . Just compare the options in vodafone email setup to clear/ihug. Vodafone may 'own' it, doesnt mean anything. They also own paradise email, thats ones even worse & Im sure Vodafone would rather be rid of it . Tell me this isnt last century, 100M mailbox size limit "The standard size of a mailbox is 100MB" help.vodafone.co.nz help.vodafone.co.nz My advise, seriously consider moving to a modern email provider, be it gmail or even vodafone.co.nz Vodafone email send wont require you to be connected to vodafone to send On a more postive note, on android I use Aquamail. I prefer it to the normal mail app on my phone. |

| 1405788 | 2015-08-06 09:48:00 | 1101 - Vodafone only do port 25 and only accept email from their network. They have no SSL option. At least they didn't 6 months ago when I last checked. I agree mailbox size is crap. I agree that Clearnet/Paradise etc are old but I don't consider Vodafone to be any better. I do not support Vodafone and they should stick to Mobile phones! I believe a 2Degrees mobile can send email to Vodafone smtp on port 25 but 2Degrees full back to Vodafone network when their network unavailable. As above been 6 months since I last had to deal with Vodafone settings so maybe it's changed. |
