1405636 2015-07-31 11:20:00 My desktop PC has a dual core Intel CPU, 2.66Ghz and is running Windows 7 Ultimate
with no problems.
When I select the recently installed GWX icon to run a Win10 compatibility
check, it reports that my CPU is incompatible. I have read about a bug in
the GWX app experienced by many users globally and that this has been fixed
with a patch via Win Updates (KB 2952664) which I have installed. This did not
fix the problem, so I uninstalled both the app and the patch, KB 3035583 and
KB 2952664, then downloaded afresh via Win Updates and reinstalled them.
The GWX analyser still shows that my CPU is incompatible with Win 10 but as
you can see in the CPU-Z report below it should satisfy the minimum requirements.
I can see nothing in my BIOS that needs fixing, so any ideas that may resolve the issue ?

1405637 2015-07-31 21:16:00 Well I'm upgrading today and I have a E7500 will let you know how it goes although I have an image of C made last weekend. gary67 (56)
1405638 2015-07-31 21:26:00 Thanks. I'm in no hurry to install Win10 - will wait a few months for the gremlins
to be sorted by MS. Just wondered why the compatibility check failed the CPU.

1405639 2015-07-31 21:37:00 Go into the BIOS and make sure Execute Disable bit is enabled. According to Intel (communities.intel.com) if this is disabled thats why youre getting that message

It maybe called Execute disable bit. Then try again. It looks like an Intel CPU has to support NX (yours supports it) but it's disabled in the BIOS, SSE2, and PAE.

So Win 8 and 10, will install

1405640 2015-07-31 22:05:00 Thanks, Speedy. Don't remember seeing anything like that in bios. Will look again.
May seek an answer from Intel Support. I'm guessing that I could probably do the
the upgrade by downloading and burning the Win10 ISO file but in no hurry for it.

1405641 2015-07-31 22:36:00 Most Intel cpus that support it (yours does) according to the Intel site for that CPU. So there should be an option in the BIOS. Probably under the CPU menu

Unless that option is enabled, even if you get the ISO it may not install it. Until you enable it

1405642 2015-07-31 22:52:00 OK, thanks for info. Will check the BIOS blanco (11336)
1405643 2015-07-31 23:26:00 Cannot find anything in my Bios relating to the CPU apart from short description.
There is no PAE in the Speccy CPU details shown here:

Mine supports exactly the same as yours. I'm using Win10 at the mo

1405645 2015-08-01 10:28:00 I have been through the BIOS thoroughly and there are no settings available
for security or CPU. The PC was manufactured (Medion 6486) in 2008, since
when I have upgraded the RAM, HDD and the OS from Vista to Win7 but not
the original BIOS. I will contact manufacturer support with details and see if
a BIOS update fixes it. Thanks Speedy.
