1405216 2015-07-23 17:06:00 below is the question asked of me to fix a corrupt file. The issue is:

I recently had an issue with a corrupted file (the same file as the one
attached, although the one attached was received two days later). When
I open the file straight from the email, I do not have any problems;
however, when I save it on the network and reopen it, I receive a
message that says "excel found unreadable content in your file - do you
want to recover the contents of your workbook?" Can you please take a
look at the file and let me know if it can be fixed?

Excel found unreadable content i copy of xxxxx-2010 Stautory audit .xls Do you want the source of this workbook, click yes. When we do nothing gets fixed. Another user has the same issue?

I am not sure why excel is not my thing. I have tried to open the file and have recieved errors saying the file may be corrupt, click here and the app will fix it. It never gets fixed?

1405218 2015-07-23 20:04:00 Might not be related but I get similar errors with spreadsheets created using a newer version of excel that I'm trying to read them with.
In that case they are not corrupted but excel thinks they are. All you can do is get the originator to save them in an older format.

1405221 2015-07-24 09:21:00 What about saving it as a new file, in a newer format from within Excel, or from within the mail window? Paul.Cov (425)

1405223 2015-07-24 17:56:00 You can use the following methods to troubleshoot problems with opening or using Excel files:
Use a recovered copy of the document.
Use the Open and Repair command.
Save the file in HTML format.
Save the file in XML Spreadsheet format.
If a chart is linked to the corrupted file, use a macro to extract the data.
In case nothing helps make use https://excel.recoverytoolbox.com/ Recovery Toolbox for Excel

Umm, you sent it to me.
No offence, but I don't have the need for it.
