2015-02-26 03:10:00 | We're in the wrong job. You won't get a pay rise anywhere else, let alone a $10k pay rise. I should have been a politician. Even the backbenchers do okay.

2015-02-26 03:21:00 | I really should go get a job as a sit-around-do-nothing-er like them ... it seems pretty cruisy for a decent salary. | inphinity (7274) | |
2015-02-26 05:08:00 | SWMBO is a longtime admin for a gummit dept. She is so excited at present as she is about to get a huge salary increase in March. The stunning increase is .7% Yes folks, that is POINT SEVEN PERCENT Anyone like to suggest what would be the best investment to get the greatest return from this windfall. Ken PS Her fortnightly union fees are greater than the increase. :(

2015-02-26 20:43:00 | Can you see a trend here? 2010 www.stuff.co.nz 2011 www.nzherald.co.nz 2013 www.nzherald.co.nz 2015 www.nzherald.co.nz Four times he has said he doesn't support a pay rise....he has the power to put a stop to this rort, but does Nothing. Shameful hypocrisy! Plus its back dated....meanwhile,not on Planet Key,those on the minimum wage get a .50c rise which unless I am mistaken will equate to nothing if they are getting a tax credits or the like.... :tui:

2015-02-26 21:46:00 | When I was in Tanzania President Julius Nyerere reduced the pay of all politicians including himself. He also banned the use of Ministerial cars except for special occasions. He chose to cycle to parliament and instructed all parliamentarians to use their own transport. The people loved him. Maybe JK should lead by example. He has the power to declare war, so you can't tell me that he can't change the pay automatic rise process! | mzee (3324) | |
2015-02-26 22:49:00 | You won't get a pay rise anywhere else, let alone a $10k pay rise. Completely wrong. As Lockwood Smith said on this issue, if he was working in the private sector would get an annual pay rise :banana Not sure whats happened to my pay rises over the last 10 years. have they been lost in the aether ? Anyway... The sole job of The Remuneration Authority is to hand out pay rises. No pay rises & those govt officials would be unemployed . Its corruption of the first degree. It could be solved with the stroke of a pen, or a hard word in someones ear. That will never happen . Nat, labour, both as bad as each other. And who in the heck ever backdates pay rises ?????? Insanity.

2015-02-26 23:18:00 | The Authority are supposedly part time, and one of the three members is an ex trade union leader. Swapped sides? Who knows? I would be they are getting a nice payout for their work. If they decided no pay increases were needed over the next 4 years(and they arnt needed or warranted) , then they would have nothing to do. I would have thought it was obvious, MP's know how much the pay rate is. They effectively signed up to that pay rate for the 3 year term in office. No pay rises needed or justified. Its not as if they are underpaid. I would say only JKey took a pay drop from his previous job. Any other Mp's wjho could claim the same ?
